Cheeky chappy, Dave, from Come Dine With Me - Manchester, likes to make people laugh. "I would say I'm pretty happy go lucky, bit of a prankster," he grins as he tinkles on his piano. "I like to be amongst people who laugh." Let's hope it's for the right reasons

To get his party off to the right start, Dave the joker's deployed some well placed pranks - a remote controlled fart machine and some strategically placed fake poo. Just the right tone for a meal with strangers.

The creative comedian is serving mushroom soup for starters and pork with mushrooms for main. But guess what - none of his guests like mushrooms. "I like mushrooms, I just don't like the soup," corrects Shaida pulling no punches. It'll take more than that to bring down this fun guy. He gets them all back with some impromptu farting. That's sure to get them on side.

Shaida's not impressed - she thinks Dave is common - but he's certainly won Matthew over. "I think Dave is lovely. If I didn't have a dad I'd want Dave to be my dad," coos the drama teacher. Steady on, you only met him an hour ago.

Can Dave's lively banter bag him some points or was his dinner a joke too far?

Starter

Fish pie

To get the party started Dave served an under-appreciated mushroom soup with dry sherry followed by fish pie a la Dave.

Main Course

Pork tenderloin

It was tenderloin of pork in cognac for main with yummy vegetables and Dave's fluffy mash.

Dessert

Chocolate pudding

To finish Dave served his wife's classic dessert - Karen's dead good dead gooey chocolate pud. Unfortunately, we can't bring you Dave's dessert for copyright reasons but for a similar sweet try this chocolate pudding instead.

  1. My wife and I absolutely loved Dave in this show! He is, by far,the most entertaining and witty contestant we have seen..we just laughed whenever he appeared! Dave has that cheeky look about him and you never knew what he was going to say or do next...he was obviously having a ball as well! We would love to speak with Dave via our email if possible and congratulate him for being himself and providing us with total joy!

  4. I think Dave;s dinner party was the best by a mile.He is undoubtedly the funniest and most entertaining contestant the show has seen and never mind the food he should have won on entertainment alone.Well done Dave.

  5. I am lucky enough to know Dave on a personal level and what i have seen of Dave on Channel 4 this week is Dave throughout. The show is lucky to have such a charasmatic person and i believe he is undoubtedly the best contestant the show has ever had. I heard the 'Chris Moyles Show' talking about it on Tuesday which has never happened before.....what an advert for the show!!!!! That speak volumes about Dave

  8. I loved Dave too, but I am sure I have seen him before, although I've never been to Manchester ! Has he been on telly before, his voice is very familiar ? Or does he just sound like someone else ? Please help, it's driving me mad !!

  9. I thought Dave was great, I thought his 'fart' joke was very funny, but the fake poo was a bit inappropriate especially as they were about to eat! I laughed like a mad woman at his Mick Jagger impersonation....hilarious. Well done Dave pity about the low score, hopefully you will beat Shaida at least!!!

  10. Dear me!How weird is David?Who in their right mind would think putting fake cat poo on the table and the fart machine were funny?Remember it was the first time these people had met,he deserved the low mark he got for his behaviour alone.

  13. I like a laugh and a joke, but I thought Dave was very infantile and not very funny. His Mick Jagger impersonation reminded me of Oliver Reed when he was drunk on Michael Aspel's talk show.
