Karen Bretagne, knows how to have a good party. She just needs to learn how to cook
Karen Bretagne is a no nonsense Northerner who has settled among the rolling hills and sandy bays of Dawlish. Running a family supermarket has taught Karen the importance of hard work and she says there's nothing she wouldn't be able to get herself through a little hard graft.
To wow her rival diners, Karen is creating a feast of dishes made from the freshest local ingredients - snubbing her own supermarket in the process. But while her food may taste flash it doesn't sound all that impressive. "Chicken Kiev," muses Darren, "I use to have them at school."
Karen's opting to serve meringue for dessert predicting that unless the guests are experts they won't be able to judge its quality when it's loaded with cream and fruit. There's nothing like pride in your work, hey Karen? Her first attempts are overcooked, her next attempt is burnt but finally version three is perfect. Perfect, that is, until she pours potato dauphinoise all over it. With five minutes before her guests arrive Karen makes an emergency call to her hubby to ask for more sugar.
While Karen struggles with her pavlova her guests check out her saucy underwear and it's not long before the chat goes the same way. As the only man, Darren is in for a night of analysis as the three girls subject him to an in-depth character study.
With a burnt main course and a disastrous dessert Karen gives up and doles out children's sparklers as compensation for her mediocre cooking. She's certainly put a smile on everybody's face but will her over-enthusiastic life personality be too much for her guests to take?

To kick things off Karen served a selection of cocktails and nibbles followed by a seafood medley entitled fisherman's delight.

For the main course Karen served an old classic - chicken Kiev with green beans and dauphinoise potatoes.

For dessert Karen attempted to cook a magnificent passion fruit volcano.
