IT whiz, Simon Goddard, is a king of sophistication who claims he's used to "working hard and playing very, very hard" - a vigorous game of marbles perhaps?
Humble to the last, the middle-aged bachelor says it's irrelevant what people think of him; he has worked hard to enjoy the fruits of his labour and enjoy them as he will. Steady on old boy.
Simon's hoping to wow the crowds with a refined repast of smoked salmon entrees, followed by a seared scallop starter, roast pheasant main (personally-plucked) and a final feast of brandy sorbet.
Sounds impressive but, forced to cook the main course after his guests' arrival, the pheasant plucker is soon neglecting his duties as host. Left to their own devices, his guests get feisty as the talk turns to hunting. Can his cooling sorbet refresh the mood?

Simon kicks the evening off with some cheeky caipirinhas, glasses of champagne and smoked salmon slithers sprinkled with Italian lemon juice.
Having whetted his guests' appetite, Simon pushes on with a starter of seared scallops and black pudding with pea and mint puree.
Unfortunately we can't bring you Simon's scallop recipe but have a go at Gordon's pan-roasted version instead.

For the main course, it's personally-plucked roast pheasant on a bed of puy lentils served with mashed potatoes.

To finish, it's calvados granita followed by a selection of Somerset cheeses. Unfortunately we can't bring you Simon's granita recipe but try this bellini granita instead.
