Performing artist, Dan Cumberland, from Come Dine With Me Manchester, is a vegetarian who believes people should be able to kill what they eat. He likes his food to be as pure as possible. "I don't like food that's been radio-actified," he admits. Well Dan, it's an acquired taste.
Dan has been cooking since he was little and regularly wows his friends with posh dinners. But as his meal is minus the meat, he's relying on a little extra spice to dazzle his diners. He decides to opt for an Indian theme.
As well as being a veggie, Dan describes himself as a fussy bugger who has to get a feel for the vegetable before he's ready to buy it. "You get a feeling from them, don't you?" he says. "You think, 'oh yes, I want to take you home'." Easy Dan, it's an onion not your lover.
Dan's diners will be sitting on the floor to scoff their supper but, considerate as ever, he's coughed up for some new cushions. And in keeping with the homely feel he greets his guests with a cup of tea…with saffron in it. "It's very sweet and smells a bit like wee," he tells them. That's it Dan, give them the hard sell.
As the guests squat down for dinner talk turns to Dan's artwork - and why he's got a giant pipe by his bed. "I use it to communicate with giant balloons filled with water," he explains. Of course you do Dan.
So will his bean feast prove enough to satisfy these critical guests or will they be freaked out by more than just his pipe work?

For starters Dan served his guests one of his personal favourites - spicy tomato and spinach soup.

It was bean cuisine for main course as Dan served mixed bean curry and South Indian dal.

Staying with the Indian theme Dan finished with mango and pistachio kulfi.
