It’s day four of the competition in Ayr and time for upmarket Englishwoman Lizzy McCubbin to show off her skills. She’s pulling out all the stops to offer polished presentation and the finest cuisine.

Lizzy’s four-course meal starts with spiced pears with stilton and walnut pâté. Then there are individual fish pies, followed by the main course, gougère - a savoury choux pastry. For dessert, she’s serving champagne and raspberry jellies.

Businessman Forbes Robertson is tired of Lizzy getting his name wrong, so when the guests arrive he is wearing a giant name badge, but still the hostess insists on calling him Frazer. Lizzy wants to stop smokers Elaine Munro and Sarah Pickering from disappearing for cigarette breaks, but her thoughtful gift of nicotine gum does not go down well.

Will Lizzy’s faux pas cause her scores to nosedive?

  1. How mean was Forbes, giving Lizzy a score of just 5 after admitting her food was delicious. OK, so Lizzy has a problem with names - not just his - but his menu and cooking were an absolute disaster, and the other contestants were still generous towards him. In fact, I think Forbes is just mean - full stop!!

  2. I think Lizzie was given a totally unfair score, especially from Forbes. They all praised her food, each course was devoured and commented on. Only one person scored her a 9, and for Forbes to score 5 was absolutely ridiculous. It's a food programme not a name programme!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Since watching this episope from Ayr I have been trying to source a print that Lizzie had in her home. From what I recall it was a multi coloured print and looked like it was made up of a rectangular pattern. Any chance of finding out where it came from? Many thanks Peter Daniels
