International businessman Allen Brockington, showed his culinary skills on night three of Come Dine With Me in Kent

He might be an international businessman but gentle giant, Allen, is all about the home comforts. He likes gardening, painting and happily for his guests, cooking. He's planning a laid back evening with nice food, nice presentation and nice wine. Sounds nice.

His guests are expecting good old British grub and big fat portions, but Allen's girth deceives them. Turn's out he's a dab hand in the kitchen. His sense of humour is classic Brit, though and shopping for a nice pear and big, juicy melons turns the show more Carry on Cooking than Come Dine With Me.

Even Trevor's migrane inducing shirt and borderline racism can't wipe the smile off Allen's face. The food slips down well with everyone. Everyone except princess Tayna. She doesn't like artichoke or goat's cheese or orange or caramelised pears or strawberries or eggs or anything. Except ketchup. She likes ketchup.

Starter

Artichoke and gruyere pastries

Allen's nimble fingers knocked up artichoke, olive and gruyere pastries with a side salad and sweet chilli dressing. Unfortunately we can't bring you Allen's recipe but try this delicious torta pasqualina recipe instead.

Main Course

Duck with caremelised pears

It was 'ooh la la's all round when Allen served duck with caramelised pears and orange sauce with dauphinois potatoes. And for Tanya, tomato and goat's cheese bake. Unfortunately we can't bring you Allen's recipe but try this indulgent duck with kumquat and pear chutney recipe instead.

Dessert

Fruit meringue and ice cream

Pudding was a little ray of sunshine with a summer fruit meringue roulade and homemade ice cream. Unfortunately we can't bring you Allen's recipe but you can get fruity with thisberry pavlova squares with cointreau coulis.
