Tonight is the penultimate dinner party in Edinburgh, and our host is cocky barman turned catering manager James Gammie.
He’s been boasting about his cooking and cocktail skills all week, but tonight he has to prove to the sceptical group that he’s not all talk. Plus all week, he’s not been getting on with Tracy. Luckily he’s not short of confidence and has a few tricks up his sleeve, in the form of rather a lot of cocktails.
With his guests barely through the door, James wastes no time in showing off his skills with a shaker. He starts off serving a cocktail. Then he serves his starter – with another cocktail. And the main – with yet another cocktail.
Things are going well and soon it’s time for James to bring out his grand finale – a sugar filled banoffee pie followed by a stiff whisky cocktail, undoubtedly the most intoxicating of the evening. Paul, Jenny, Tanya and James all sip their cocktail, but whisky-lover Tracy gulps hers down in a second, and immediately asks for a re-fill.
Will James’s boozy evening put him in Tracy’s good books and bag him that top spot? Or did he go a cocktail too far?
