No, not that type of pigeon. Start stalking round Trafalgar Square with a bag of bird seed and a loaded rifle and you'll have more than just bird droppings to worry about. Wood pigeons, however, can be shot in Britain all year round under license and taste delicious.
They can be easily picked up in most major supermarkets and work well with a little added spice. Try them in this pigeon and butternut squash salad recipe.
