Imagine your ideal country food market: stalls stocked with the freshest local ingredients, manned by the farmers that reared the animals, picked the fruit and trod the grapes. From April 24 to 27 the countryside comes to London's Earls Court for the Real Food Festival.
The Real Food Festival has given 500 of the best British and international small food and drink producers the opportunity to show off their wares and offering an unparalleled concentration of producers that don't often find their way to major food and drink events let alone your local supermarket.

Orkney's finest fish
The event is unique among food festivals for the support it's offering to exhibitors. Money from every ticket sold has been used to subsidise stalls meaning that for the first time, small producers - who often can't rely on the marketing and logistics their large competitors take for granted, are gaining the national exposure they deserve.
With an emphasis on sustainability, provenance and taste, producers invited to attend have been chosen by a committee of experts led by former director of Slow Food UK, Lyndon Gee, and includes journalist, farmer and Blur bassist Alex James, food writer Richard Johnson and key figures from across the gastronomic universe.

Saddleback sausages
The event's organisers are calling it 'the UK's biggest farmers market'. Visitors to the Festival will have the chance to meet producers, take part in workshops led by some of the country's top chefs and food and drink experts - there's even an ice cream master-class.
So if you're planning to chase down that hard to find ingredient, embark on a tasting tour of Europe, attend foodie workshops with top chefs or just following your nose, the Real Food Festival should make for a delicious day out.
The Real Food Festival runs from 24-27 April at London's Earls Court
