Stop loading up your shopping trolley with pre-made goods. With a bit of know how, you can save pennies and go gourmet by doing it yourself. Here are some of the most popular products you can easily make at home.
Bread
A good baker uses their loaf! Tee hee. But seriously.
Making your own bread is rewarding for many reasons; it's tasty, it's economical and your kitchen will be full of that lovely freshly baked loaf smell.
A decent bread maker means an initial outlay but brings convenience to the table. Chuck in all the ingredients and set the timer. You can even set it to run overnight. But bread making, even without machines, is simple to master.
Once you've tackled a basic white loaf or, for the health conscious, a malted grain loaf, you can get creative with all sorts of speciality breads that would cost a whole lot of dough in the shops.
Try these:
Milk bread
Sun dried tomato and parsley bread
Garlic breadsticks
