A meatless roast can be a more satisfying culinary experience than anything dreamt up by the butcher, claims Jesse Errey
A good roast dinner is a North European staple. Perfect for a cold climate and best of all when you’ve got time to let your dinner - and all the other stresses of the working week - stew for a while.
Get the preparation right and after you chuck it into the oven, it’s all gravy. Kick back with a glass of wine and let the whole mess stew in its own juices while the sky turns from grey to black beyond the steamy windows of your kitchen.
The smell of roasting meat is adored by carnivores throughout the world, but there’s no reason vegetarians should miss out on the warm glow offered by the Sunday roast.
