It may look like an undertaker's carriage clock crossed with a giant's whisk but this 19th century contraption was actually used for barbecuing birds. Simply place your poultry between the metal poles and the clockwork winder will rotate the fowl over the fire, creating cooked and tender tucker quicker than you can say 'pass me the cranberry jus'.
