Maria Malan is farm manager at Stellar Winery in South Africa
Maria started working at Stellar Winery in 1976 when, after the death of her mother, she became responsible for her younger sisters and brothers as well as four orphans, who she brought up as her own.
"My advice to other workers is to take advantage of the opportunities in life and become an equal partner. Hit upon a goal in life and strife to achieve it. Look forward. Take your eyes away from negative conditions in and around your house and go always forward. It is not a sin to sweep floors, but your children could be ashamed if you do not make progress in life."
