Our boys won't be out for a duck with this hearty menu - 4Food spoke to James Avery from the English Cricket Board (ECB) to find out what the Ashes team eats on match days
Snack table – available all day in the dressing room or nearby area
James Anderson
- Toaster, sandwich maker and sandwich making facilities
- Bread (mixture of whole grain and white varieties)
- Range of low fat sandwich fillings, including lean meat, fish
- Low fat sandwich spread
- Range of fruit including bananas, only fruits with skin that can be removed. Also dried fruits
- Choice of unsalted raw nuts including cashews
- Low fat yogurts and or yogurt based smoothie type drinks
Lunch
Kevin Pietersen
- Variety of soups (e.g. Tuscan bean mixture, minestrone, vegetable, pumpkin and ginger, corn chowder, butterbean and vegetable, cauliflower and cashew nut, potato and leek, lentil and coriander)
- Assorted bread rolls (a mixture of white and multigrain)
- Chicken breast (grilled or steamed)
- White fish (grilled or steamed)
- Optional one other lean meat dish (e.g. avocado and turkey tortillas, with black eyed beans and lime juice; lemon chicken with garlic, sesame oil and ginger; stir-fried chicken with bean shoots, cashews - serve with white and brown rice, 50% of each)
- Low fat pasta dish
- Jacket potatoes (with tuna and sweetcorn, baked beans, low fat soft cheese with chives, grated low fat cheese)
- Assorted cooked fresh vegetables (preferably steamed)
- Low fat yogurts, fresh fruit
Lunch desserts

- Berry fruits
- Frozen low fat yogurt or sorbets
- Variety of yogurts (to include soft fruits, too)
- Buckwheat pancakes with banana, or maple syrup
- Fat free muffins with blueberries, banana
Post game snacks - available in the dressing room
Paul Collingwood
- A dry type chicken dish that can be eaten around the dressing room (e.g. mildly seasoned chicken pieces, chicken kebabs)
- A rice/potato/pasta dish (as per the lunch menu)
