Making Andrew’s journey greener
Channel 4’s roving food reporter Andrew Webb needed wheels to travel to the far-flung parts of Britain for his food odyssey around Britain, and was looking for a low emissions vehicle to make his journey. The team at Ford was delighted to step in and lend him a brand new Focus ECOnetic, which spearheads the launch of the Ford ECOnetic car range, the low CO2 alternatives from Ford.
Andrew will be covering a considerable amount of ground during his seven-month trip, and the last thing he wants is to be driving a car that isn’t doing its bit for the environment. This is where the new Focus ECOnetic wins special brownie points – thanks to the engineers at Ford and their passion for green technology, this car emits the lowest amount of C02 in its class: just 115g/km.
The Focus ECOnetic still does all the same things that the ‘regular’ Focus is famous for, and Andrew will be comfortably whizzing from dairy farms to fishmongers and farmers’ markets in style. It runs on diesel, has a powerful engine and loads of clever onboard technology, such as voice-activated sat nav*. But although it looks and feels very similar to a regular Focus, the Focus ECOnetic has some very clever eco tricks up its sleeve. Firstly, because its body design and tyres are super-aerodynamic, it has lower wind resistance. The less friction on the road, the smoother the drive and less fuel used. The type of oil used in the engine is also really efficient, too. Not only this, but any driver of the Focus ECOnetic will pay low road tax costs and may well be exempt from paying London’s congestion charge from October onwards.
You can track Andrew’s progress in his Focus ECOnetic here to see where he is on his voyage of food discovery. And you can rest assured that even though he’ll be doing lots of miles, his carbon emissions will stay very low!
