Everyone needs a cuppa
Buoyed up by the cornet business, Andrew stopped for a cup of tea at Kitty's tearooms in New Galloway. Straight off the set of an Agatha Christie mystery, the cafè was decked out with all the daintiness a British tea room should boast - beautiful tea sets and delicious cakes. Chatting with cafè owner, Sylvia Brown, Andrew was surprised to hear that a large portion of the tea room's custom comes from passing bikers. From hell's angels to pensioners - everybody loves a bit of tea and cake.
And so to Glasgow where Andrew had a bite to eat at Cafè Gandolfi, a culinary institution within the city, and went to dinner at the Michelin-starred Braidwoods, just south of Paisley. Both restaurants served up quality Scottish grub a million miles away from battered Mars Bars.
