Deer from the big screen
While wanting to avoid stereotypes it's hard to sample Scottish fare without talking deer, so Andrew took himself off to renowned deer farm, Fletcher's of Auchtermucty. As well as boasting some 'seriously good venison' the farm is home to some famous faces. The farm's pet deer, Thistle, has made numerous TV appearances while other stags from the herd have appeared on the Glenfiddich adverts and Oscar-winning film, The Queen. As well as looking good on camera, Fletcher's deer tastes great on the plate, with the company's ethical farming standards and humane approach to slaughter ensuring there's no bitter taste left in the mouth.
Deer digested it was time for coffee and Andrew met up with Mike Wilson, owner of Edinburgh coffee house, Artisan Roast. While many cafes offer hand roasted beans, few will roast it right there in the shop. Mike's approach to coffee production not only creates flavour-packed drinks but fills his cafe with a delicious rich aroma.
