Andrew meets a pie man
You can't visit Yorkshire without having a pie and where better to sample the county's delights than with a local pie master? Andrew Jones is a baker with a lot to be proud of, as well as creating some of the tastiest pies in Yorkshire he's also given the Cornish a run for their money having won a national Cornish pasty award in 2001. He's very proud of his figit pies – pork meat with a layer of apple stuffing and a lattice pastry top, a big hit in Yorkshire. Just don't tell the Cornish.
Then after a brief trip to the award-winning Star at Harome, Andrew made his final stop at The Yorkshire Crisp Company, a Sheffield firm creating quality hand cut crisps, all sourced and produced within a stone's throw of the steel city. The brand is currently been launched in Fortnum and Mason marking a rapid move from a Sheffield field to the Queen's grocers in just four years.
It seems the good food movement has spread across the country and Andrew continues to find inspirational stories in the most unlikely places. His journey now continues into the East Midlands where Leicester and Nottingham will pit themselves against his gastronomic gauge.
