The world on your plate

If you were asked to think of good tapas your mind would probably wander to the quaint tavernas of Seville or Granada but it probably wouldn't lead you to the streets of Nottingham. But it could. Andrew popped into Iberico World Tapas, nestled beneath Nottingham's Halls of Justice and tasted the world on his plate. With not a stuffed donkey in sight the international team combine the fundamentals of fine dining with some Spanish-style plate sharing.

Taste buds tantalised, Andrew journeyed on to Leicester to the city's school of food. Paul Leery set up the Woodhouse Restaurant in 2005, but as well as turning out happy customers Paul's committed to creating top quality chefs. Having started his culinary life as a lecturer the grand daddy of gastronomy has shared his passion for creative cookery with a host of promising talent and seen a steady stream of talent pass through his doors. If you're eating out in the East Midlands, you have a lot to thank him for.

Round the corner from Paul is the Entropy Bar - a family run pub with a difference. A world away from plastic tables and ball pools, Tom and Cassandra Cockerill have created a sophisticated eatery where adults and children can enjoy top-notch nosh in stylish but comfy surroundings.
