On to Devon

And so to Devon, where Andrew met a couple dedicated to keeping cheese local and loafed around in a Lyme Regis bakery eating Dorset rarebit and ‘Bakers eggs’, to name just a few of the local specialities.

As well as its fame for fishing, the South West has something of a reputation for smoking fish too – one of the oldest methods of treating food. So Andrew stopped in at the Brown and Forest Smokery for a lesson in smoking. The business specialises in one of the region’s most popular delicacies – smoked eel – and after learning the ropes, Andrew stayed to sample the unusual cuisine.

Back on the road and heading North, Andrew took a trip down memory lane to Wookey Hole, where he spent some of his childhood and had a refreshing pint in the Wookey Hole Inn, before driving on to Bath to meet the broccoli man.
