Often cited as Britain's answer to Marilyn Monroe, Diana Dors was an actress of surprising talent who became one of Britain's best-loved stars. In a stage and screen career that spanned 40 years she showed her diversity as an actress, appearing in everything from Dickens adaptations to 70s sex romps. She was most famous for playing gold diggers, and was a darling of the tabloid press (she was a good friend of notorious East End gangsters The Krays). Her career extended beyond the world of film: she starred as the fairy godmother in Adam Ant's "Prince Charming" video and ended her working days as an agony aunt on GMTV.
