Born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1961. His father had his own chat show and his aunt was famed 50s singer Rosemary Clooney. George's first love was baseball, and it was only when his trials for the Cincinnati Reds failed that he turned to acting. He moved to LA in 1982 and appeared in numerous failed TV pilots and films such as Return of the Killer Tomatoes. He finally hit paydirt playing Dr Ross in the TV medical drama ER and quickly became a confirmed leading man. Famed for refusing to marry and for living with his pet pig, Max, he has found success in Three Kings and O Brother, Where Art Thou?
