Alain Delon became the epitome of cool French cinema in the 1960s. Born in France in 1935, he became an actor after serving in the French marines. Delon made his film debut in Quand la femme s'en mele in 1957, before winning international fame seven films later in Plein Soleil. An actor with stunning good looks and stylish presence, Delon became known for his ability to play the cold, psychopathic gangster. In 1967, he played a perfectionist assassin in Le Samourai and had huge success two years later alongside Jean-Paul Belmondo in the stylish 30s Marseilles' gangster film Borsalino. Delon claimed to have retired after starring in Leconte's 1998 film Une chance sur deux, but made a brief appearance in Les acteurs in 2000.
