British beauty has starred in many fine films, but is probably best known for her performance as a jewel thief alongside Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible II. Thandie Newton was born in Zimbabwe in 1972, but grew up in Cornwall before studying dance at London's Art Education School. After injury put paid to her dreams of being a dancer, Newton turned to acting. Her film debut came in 1989, in Flirting, alongside Nicole Kidman. Newton has since appeared in movies like Interview With A Vampire (1994), Gridlock'd (1996) and Besieged (1998), before stealing Tom Crusie's heart in Mission: Impossible II in 2000.
