Sharon Stone is one of the great Hollywood survivors. Born in 1958, she was an exceptionally clever student, but won the Miss Pennsylvania Beauty contest and set out to conquer Hollywood. After a stint as a Ford model, she got her first speaking part in Wes Craven's 1981 horror Deadly Blessing. Stone gave a great performance in Total Recall, as the deceiving wife of Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1992, she become world famous after "that leg crossing scene" in Basic Instinct and followed it up with films such as Sliver and The Specialist. Stone has always refused to be typecast and has fought for good roles such as her 1995 film The Quick And The Dead, in which she appeared as a female gunslinger. She got her reward in Martin Scorsese's Casino, playing Robert De Niro's moll. A talented and courageous performance earned her an Oscar nomination.
