The middle child of three brothers, Owen Cunningham Wilson was born in Texas in 1968. Something of a wild child at school, Wilson ended up at military academy before attending the University of Texas. While gaining his BA in English, Wilson befriended Wes Anderson, establishing a fruitful long-term partnership. Their first co-written project was Bottle Rocket, which Anderson went on to direct, and Wilson to act in.
Offbeat comedies Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums followed (both with longstanding collaborator Bill Murray), and Wilson also became known for his goofy, laid-back schtick in films such as Shanghai Noon (with Jackie Chan), Meet The Parents (Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller) and Zoolander (also with Stiller).
Currently starring with long-term buddy Stiller in hit comedy Starsky And Hutch, Wilson has several other films in the pipeline, including The Life Aquatic - directed by Anderson and co-starring Bill Murray.
