Glenda Jackson is currently the only MP with an Oscar (two to be exact), unless Michael Caine or Catherine Zeta-Jones decide to run, and is best known for her performances as strong, smart and sexy women. Born in Cheshire in 1936, Jackson joined an acting troupe at the age of 16. After years of just getting by, she joined the Theatre Of Cruelty and starred in both the stage and film versions of the award-winning The Marat/Sade in 1966. In 1969, Jackson starred alongside Alan Bates and Oliver Reed in Ken Russell's Women In Love. The film was a huge critical success and Jackson won the Best Actress Oscar. She would work closely with Russell, starring in his The Music Lovers (1971), Salome's Last Dance (1988) and The Rainbow (1989). Before turning to Parliament, Jackson won a second Academy Award in A Touch Of Class in 1973.
