Miranda Richardson

avg. user rating: 5 (309 votes)

Superb as the ditzy 'Queenie' in Richard Curtis' cult television comedy Blackadder, Lancashire lass Miranda Richardson has made her mark on stage and screen, appearing in films such as Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Stephen Daldry's critically acclaimed The Hours in 2002. Her intelligent portrayals of women in extreme circumstances have earned her praise and a BAFTA award for IRA terrorist Jude in The Crying Game. Trained at the famous Bristol Old Vic Theatre, Richardson accepts roles on her own terms and states a preference for challenging herself. She turned down the part Glenn Close would later play in Fatal Attraction because she found it 'regressive in its attitudes.'
