Broken Flowers is a melancholic road movie in which a jaded Bill Murray embarks on a journey to find a son he may have fathered. It's been the biggest commercial success of director Jim Jarmusch's directing career, one that stretches back over 20 years to Permanent Vacation and Stranger Than Paradise.
"It's always very mysterious to me, how films work theatrically," muses Jarmusch. "I think Broken Flowers is resonating for people as an antidote to War Of The Worlds and other large films. It's found a place that people are appreciating. People ask me if this is my most accessible film, and I don't see that at all. I find it to be a very quiet, poetic film, a very bittersweet film. I don't think of it purely as a comedy, although there's funny stuff in it of course."
