Edinburgh thrives on the frenetic atmosphere generated by the Fringe and Comedy festivals running in parallel, bold, esoteric programming and the buzzing coffee bar underneath the Filmhouse. UK premieres, star interviews, (Sean Penn lambasted Hollywood in 2001) and great masterclasses. Last year, Scots Alison Peebles and David 'Young Adam' Mackenzie scooped the awards.
