"Most of my posters come from the Sixties, a really rich time for the film poster. Most of them are pretty simple; there's a real sense of joy and power and playing with the form, and a real understanding that a film poster needs to work in an emotional, expressive way, revealing something about the nature of the film it's promoting through associative and symbolic use of words, colour, shapes and images. This is something that seems to have been forgotten. As you can see there are none from the Nineties, which I think is the worst decade for film posters ever".
