The American Film Institute's 100 Years,100 Laughs is the first major salute to the films and the actors who have made audiences laugh over the first 100 years of cinema history.

Griff Rhys Jones offers a British take on the American selection, while some of the leading names in American film comedy, including Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Cameron Diaz, Steve Martin, Mel Brooks and Barry Levinson, offer anecdotes and opinions.

Here's the list of the AFI's 100 funniest movies in full:

  1. To see only one Jerry Lewis film there is a disgrace, and even then, it's only at no.99! The Nutty Professor is a masterpiece and should be at least in the top 20...and what about The Patsy, The Geisha Boy, The Family Jewells, You're never too Young, Who's Minding the Store, The Disorderly Orderly????????? Jerry has always been maligned in the US. Shame on you
