A one-off blockbuster celebrating the greatest acting talent from the world of the movies, as voted by fellow actors. This four-hour extravaganza counts down the results of a comprehensive search to uncover the 50 most influential, inspiring and important actors and actresses of all time, based on poll results canvassed from the acting community on both sides of the Atlantic, and ultimately revealing the star who has been officially voted The World's Greatest Actor.
Combining classic film clips with new and archive interviews from legends on the list, from those who have known, loved and worked with them over the years and from those simply inspired by them, this will be the definitive who's who of the acting profession.
The programme will look at familiar stories with a fresh slant, pinning down how and why these icons cemented their place in the pantheon of stars, and exploring the often astonishing stories behind the on-screen personas.
It will feature interviews with a broad range of stage, TV and of course big-screen actors, from both US and UK television - from Oscar winners to stage stalwarts to emerging new talents - including: Jon Voight, Dennis Hopper, Burt Reynolds, Robert Wagner, Patrick Stewart, Angie Dickinson, Tippi Hedren, Jacqueline Bisset, Whoopi Goldberg, Brian Cox, Steven Berkoff, Hugo Speer, Nina Sosanya, David Oyelowo, Kelly Reilly, Alison Steadman, Martin Kemp, Phil Daniels and Elliot Gould.
