90. Damage (1992)

Jeremy Irons plays a politician who just can't keep his hands off his son's fiancée in this intense film. The film was publicly criticised for the amount of sex on screen and cuts were enforced by the studio. Ironically, the same public then bought three times the number of uncut DVD versions of the film than the original. Most memorable is the intense sex scene between Irons and Binoche as her head gently bangs against the floor.

89. She's Gotta Have It (1986)

Brooklynite Nola Darling is dating three different men at the same time: Jamie Overstreet (a controlling, overly protective type), Greer Childs (a wealthy vain model) and the comically immature Mars Blackmon, played by director Spike Lee. But the stability of her love ‘square’ is soon threatened by the mutual jealousy of her suitors who force her to make a choice. With its bravura camera work and inimitable script, She's Gotta Have It was the film that brought Lee to the attention of the world. The most memorable sex scene: Nola waiting patiently for Greer to fold his clothes before having passionate sex.

87. The Tribe (1998)

The 'sauce' content of the BBC's drama output increased considerably in 1998 with the screening of Stephen Poliakoff's film about a sex cult in London's Woolwich. The film stars Anna Friel, who had already achieved national cult status for her lesbian kiss in Brookside, casting off her clothes (and any inhibitions she might have had), and indulging in a series of steamy sex scenes, including a threesome with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Jeremy Northam.

86. One Million Years BC (1966)

One million years BC. Or was it five million? Who cares about the intricacies of evolution when you can have busty Raquel Welch chasing dinosaurs in a designer bearskin bikini, that bared more skin than was surely practical in those climes. Hammer films certainly didn't because, thanks to Ray Harryhausen's lovingly animated brontosauri, and Raquel's cavegirl groaning, it became their biggest box office smash and inspiration for a million and one fancy dress parties.
