80. 10 (1979)
Long before Pammy Anderson became America's favourite beach babe, there was Bo Derek in 10. Blake Edwards' gentle sex comedy would probably have faded into complete obscurity by now were it not for that scene of a young, well-endowed Bo running along the beach in slow-mo, wearing nothing but a gold swimsuit and plaits in her hair. Ten made Bo the most desired woman on the planet, and sparked a craze for perfectly plaitted hair. Oh, and it made a cool $70 million at the box office...

79. Matador
Eroticism, excess and murder - top Spanish film-maker Almodóvar mixes his favourite ingredients with his usual funky twist to create a riot of steamy nonsense. Opening with retired bullfighter Diego (Martinez) masturbating in front of a snuff video, Matador is never even remotely restrained. The film climaxes in the most absurdly literal mix of sex and death imaginable as two lovers (neither knowing that each is a serial killer) push each other towards the ultimate orgasm.

78. The Night Porter (1974)
Thirteen years after WWII, a concentration camp survivor (Charlotte Rampling) meets the SS guard who tormented her, now a night porter in a Viennese hotel, and they fall back into their sado-masochistic relationship. Supporters were awed by the film's audacity in portraying man’s unrestrained impulses, the rest lined up to deplore the film as cheap and nasty sensationalism. Few cinematic images of the 1970s are as striking as that of the bare-breasted Charlotte Rampling in Nazi regalia singing a German saloon song, and it quickly turned the daughter of an English army officer into one of Europe’s most enigmatic, exotic actresses.

77. Carry On Again Doctor (1969)
The Carry On films celebrated a Britain that was politically incorrect and sexually uptight. They normally went for titillation rather than the erotic, but one scene in Carry On Again Doctor bucked the trend. When Barbara Windsor is examined by a doctor, she reveals herself to be wearing a heart shaped bikini.

76. The Tall Guy (1989)
Sparky British rom-com in which a gangly American actor (Jeff Goldblum) enjoys a 'warm' affair with a no-nonsense nurse (Emma Thompson) - until his infidelity threatens their relationship. Best remembered for Jeff and Emma's funny, messy, warts 'n' all sex scenes, which Goldblum still fondly remembers as the most enjoyable of his career.
