25. Women In Love (1969)
Ken Russell's 1969 adaptation of Lawrence's novel boasted an incredible attention to period detail, lavish sets and photography and an all-star cast of Oliver Reed, Alan Bates and Glenda Jackson. However, these prize assets are rarely mentioned in discussion of the film. It has remained famous because it features a cinematic first - a nude male wrestling scene between Bates and Reed. Director Russell had not planned to include the scene, fearing the reaction of the censors, but good old Olly Reed forced its inclusion by pinning Russell to a table until he agreed to it!

24. Barbarella (1968)
American actress Jane Fonda's image changed completely after appearing in Roger Vadim's sci-fi comic book adventure about a sex kitten who saves a planet from the evil Duran Duran. Rumour has it that Vadim based the look of Barbarella on his first muse Brigitte Bardot, turning Fonda into an international sex symbol. The sight of Jane Fonda getting undressed in zero gravity is the stuff of space fantasy.

23. An Officer And A Gentleman (1982)
Richard Gere made the Navy sexy in 1982 as a young man who has to choose between his girl and his dream to be an officer. An Officer And A Gentleman's sexiest moment comes right at the end of the film, when Richard Gere turns up at Debra Winger's work in full uniform and sweeps her off her feet to a rousing soundtrack by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes.

22. Xena The Warrior Princess (1997)
The strange tale of Xena the princess and her sidekick Gabrielle, roaming a mythical countryside and battling everything from barbarians to centaurs, became an international mega-hit, airing in around 115 countries and spawning all manner of merchandise and fan activity. The show has glaringly obvious lesbian overtones - Xena and Gabrielle do everything together (and even 'kissed' in one episode) - and, unsurprisingly, the programme has a huge gay following, particularly among lesbians who can't get enough of their leather-clad heroines.

21. Wild Things (1998)
Incredibly trashy, but hugely enjoyable thriller, that combines graphic violence, innovative plot twists and an inspired cast led by three of Hollywood's biggest teen idols: Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell and Denise Richards. The movie's glossy production values and high school setting might initially fool you into thinking this is no more than a feature-length 90210 episode but it's not long before Wild Things' A-list cast are steaming up the screen in a series of sex scenes that leave little to the imagination. The movie's target audience of male teens watch this movie over and over again just for the moment when Neve and Denise get it on, and then there's the famous threesome...
