TRUE LIES FILM REVIEW |

 |
James Cameron re-teams with Arnold Schwarzenegger for this action-packed yarn about a secret agent whose wife discovers his secret after 15 years of marriage
True Lies is an inventive, well-cast comedy that remakes a lesser-known French comedy by the name of La Totale (1991). Schwarzenegger stars as Harry Tasker, a US government secret agent. His wife, Helen (Curtis), believes that she's married to a dull-as-dishwater computer salesman, and naturally wants a bit more excitement in her life.
Harry suspects her of having an affair while in the middle of a mission against a bunch of international terrorists who - as is the wont of international terrorists - are plotting to hold the world to nuclear ransom.
Harry's attempts to juggle the demands of work and home allow Schwarzenegger to demonstrate his considerable talent for baffled comic playing. And the tango scene is a peach. Overall, meanwhile, director James Cameron is able to present his usual high-impact action, pushing the film out of the realm of simple Bond spoofing.
