Mary Poppins (1964)

Julie Andrews stars as the magical Nanny Mary Poppins, who drops into the existence of a conventional British family and opens their eyes to a world of fun and fantasy. Million Dollar Mermaid (1952)

Esther Williams stars in the real life story of Annette Kellerman, an Australian professional swimmer, who over came a childhood disability by swimming in her local pond. Kellerman becomes a champion swimmer and moves to Europe to compete, always with the dream of becoming a ballet dancer. The elaborate water ballet sequences, choreographed by Busby Berkeley, encourage many to regard Million Dollar Mermaid as William’s best work.

Moulin Rouge (2001)

With luxurious hues, stunning costumes and unrelenting pace Moulin Rouge is a treat for the senses. The recreation of the notorious Parisian venue is the setting for a tragic love story betweeen lowly poet Christian (Ewan McGregor) and Satine (Nicole Kidman), the beautiful courtesan. The unique mix of popular ballads and timeless show tunes combined with the powerful lead performances and fantastical imagery make Baz Luhrmann's Oscar-winning muscial an escapist's dream.

Muppets Take Manhattan (1984)

The well-known and well-loved faces from Frank Oz’s Muppet Show appear together in this enjoyable caper. Kermit, Fozzie and the rest of the gang head to the Big Apple with the hope of turning their play into a Broadway hit. There are some fabulous cameos, including Liza Minnelli and Joan Rivers, but there is no doubt that Miss Piggy steals the limelight, on top diva form throughout.
