Favourite Film Star Peter O'Toole
Peter O'Toole is just a genius actor. Absolute genius. I very rarely use that word, but he is. And he's the most Oscar nominated actor to not win one. He and Richard Burton share this accolade of seven Oscar nominations and no prize. Always the bridesmaid. He's a bit like Tottenham! The way he uses his voice, his persona; the way he can ring a laugh out of
nothing and he can have an audience in the palm of his hand; and the
charisma and panache that he works with. You can only emulate it, you
couldn't top it.

 Peter Howitt Film Director
|
Favourite Film Star Paul Newman
He's able to be absolutely everything you expect from a film actor and a
film star. He can play any character you want. He can play the rebel, the
authority figure, the goody, the baddie, all with consummate ease. And at
the same time as playing all of those very varied different parts where he's
tapping into different emotions, you are also aware that you are watching a
movie star.
Editor's note: Peter Howitt named his son Luke after Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke!

Favourite Film Star Christopher Walken
Chris Walken is probably one of the most in-the-moment actors I think I've
ever seen. He is extraordinary and I like the fact that he's multi-talented
- you've seen him in the Fat Boy Slim video dancing - he has a strange
repertoire of skills. My favourite performance of his was in Deer Hunter,
it was just mesmerising to watch because he gives very little away, but he's
fascinating to watch.

Favourite Film Star Peter Sellers
I thought Peter Sellers was an absolute comic genius - stuff like Dr Strangelove and the first two Pink Panther films were just absolute masterly
comic timing. All the things that might have come out about his personal
life or how weird he was shouldn't ever detract from the fact that as a
comic actor, I don't think he's been surpassed.
