| George Clooney |
Born in Lexington, Kentucky in 1961. His father had his own chat show and his aunt was famed 50s singer Rosemary Clooney. George's first love was baseball, and it was only when his trials for the Cincinnati Reds failed that he turned to acting. He moved to LA in 1982 and appeared in numerous failed TV pilots and films such as Return of the Killer Tomatoes. He finally hit paydirt playing Dr Ross in the TV medical drama ER and quickly became a confirmed leading man. Famed for refusing to marry and for living with his pet pig, Max, he has found success in Three Kings and O Brother, Where Art Thou?. |

| Gerard Depardieu |
Born in Chateauroux, France, in 1948, Depardieu is one of his country's best-loved cinematic exports, even achieving sex symbol status despite Mother Nature having stacked the odds against him. A juvenile delinquent, the young Gerard was advised to take up acting by a prison psychologist. He first made an impression as a wandering criminal in the hilariously immoral Les Valseuses in 1974, before exploring S&M in Maitresse (1976). Depardieu is still a big star in France and admired all over the world, thanks to excellent turns in Jean de Florette and Cyrano de Bergerac, among others. |

| Glenn Close |
Glenn Close has made a career of playing devious yet sympathetic villains. Born in Connecticut in 1947, her family moved to New York when she was seven and joined an evangelical group, which took her to Switzerland and to the Congo. After graduating high school and a brief marriage to a rock star, Close decided that she wanted to be an actress. After working in theatre, Close made her screen debut in the 1982 film The World According To Garp alongside Robin Williams. She followed it with films like The Big Chill, The Natural and Jagged Edge, before gaining world fame for her performance as a psychotic spurned lover in Fatal Attraction. Close then gave a fantastic performance in Dangerous Liaisons, before playing the notorious Cruella DeVil in a live action version of 101 Dalmatians in 1996. |

| Goldie Hawn |
Goldie Hawn was born in Washington, DC in November 1945. She studied drama at the American University but dropped out to dance the can-can at the 1965 World's Fair. She was a go-go dancer before she came to attention playing a ditzy blonde on the top 60s TV show Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. Occasionally ditzy in real life - she won the best supporting actress Oscar in 1969 for Cactus Flower, but forgot to go - she appears to have made a career out of playing the same part in every film. Few, however, have managed to be a leading actress for over 20 years and be a successful producer. |
