Road To Morocco, 1942

This film must be seen, if only for the genius of the line 'like Webster's dictionary, we're Morocco bound'. Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, titans in their own right, come together to bob across the desert, where they find the ever-stunning Dorothy Lamour. A confident pastiche of the Arabian sand pictures of the day, this is witty and gloriously musical in equal measure.

Rushmore, 1998

Wes Anderson's tragic comedy about the frustrations of adolescence, always misunderstood by adults, is not only amusing but also rather intellectual in its approach to the young psyche. Jason Schwartzman plays a high-school student who is falling behind with his work, as well as developing a crush on his teacher, who is not terribly willing to reciprocate. Bill Murray gives his trademark – and excellent – performance of an embittered and deadpan cynic.
