All twelve have been interviewed by the jury but only only six will get the chance to make their film with FilmFour. Now it's down to the jury to make some dreams come true. Good luck to them all! So, just who is on the jury selecting the finalists for the inaugural Orange FilmFour Prize For Short Film? The jury comprises industry seniors, from FilmFour, Channel 4 and Orange, as well as amazing individuals from the worlds of art, broadcasting and film.
First up is Kathy Burke, one of our great British actresses, who has starred in films as diverse as Elizabeth, Kevin And Perry Go Large and Nil By Mouth, as well as giving a star comic turn in TVšs Gimme Gimme Gimme.
Next is writer and actor Ayub Khan-Din, writer of hugely successful British comedy East Is East, followed by the extraordinary, controversial artist
Tracey Emin, Turner prize nominee and bringer of notoriety to the British art scene. Mark Kermode is also in the line-up, an erudite broadcaster and
journalist, who brings his unique style and passion about movies to the screen and radio. Our next juror is Michael Winterbottom, the truly talented
British director whose star is continually on the rise; director of, to name a few: Welcome To Sarajevo, Jude, Wonderland and soon to be released 24 Hour Party People.
EXTRA! The Observer newspaper will be running a feature on the prize on Sunday 27 January, with news of the winners, interviews with the jury and so on. Worth a look to keep up with the latest... |
