How the competition works:

We'll ask for you to send in your short film ideas around a certain theme. At the end of the month, the best pitch will win an iPod Shuffle, a DVD player and some DVDs. We'll then set you a new theme every month for the next six months, picking a new winner each time. At the end of the six months, one overall winner will be chosen from our six finalists to receive £2000. All of the finalist's short film pitches will also be featured on the site.

Tips for a great pitch:

  1. A great pitch should be around a paragraph long and set out the idea for your short.

  2. Make sure that it has a 'hook', something that makes the reader want to know more about your film. For example, Jaws in space was the hook for the film Alien.

  3. Introduce your short film's main character. Movies are about characters, so make sure that your idea involves a strong character.

  4. Put them in an unusual situation. Find an original predicament for your character to be in, one that will make the audience gasp.

  1. No more than 1000 words please. Someone has to read your entry.

  2. No stealing other people's ideas. We'll know if you have.

  3. Enter as many different short film ideas as you want.

  4. Your film MUST NOT feature:
  • Excessive violence or pornography
