How the competition works:
We'll ask for you to send in your short film ideas around
a certain theme. At the end of the month, the best pitch will
win an iPod Shuffle, a DVD player and some DVDs. We'll then
set you a new theme every month for the next six months, picking
a new winner each time. At the end of the six months, one
overall winner will be chosen from our six finalists to receive
£2000. All of the finalist's short film pitches will also
be featured on the site.
Tips for a great pitch:
- A great pitch should be around a paragraph long and set
out the idea for your short.
- Make sure that it has a 'hook', something that makes the
reader want to know more about your film. For example, Jaws
in space was the hook for the film Alien.
- Introduce your short film's main character. Movies are
about characters, so make sure that your idea involves a
strong character.
- Put them in an unusual situation. Find an original predicament
for your character to be in, one that will make the audience
gasp.
