About

Launching in Manchester on April 13th and continuing on to Birmingham later in the month, After Dark uses film as its central inspiration to present a unique and eclectic evening that showcases film in an entirely different light by combining new shorts, masterclasses, digital art, technology and music from some of the most creative minds in the country.

One of the UK's hottest new writer / directors, Amma Asante, will headline the After Dark 05 tour. The award-winning Asante will launch the tour by showcasing her own personal selection of short films as well as hosting an intimate Q and A session to talk about her experiences and the challenges facing new filmmakers today. Asked what inspired her to get involved in After Dark, Amma said, "There is a fantastic amount of talent bubbling under the surface in the UK and experimenting with short films. It's brilliant to be associated with a festival that is platforming and encouraging the creativity of these emerging filmmakers here, and in such a unique way".
