Film4's New Asian Cinema Season kicks off Wednesday 11th November with House Of Flying Daggers from Yimou Zhang. Relive those outrageous battle sequences, more ballet than fisticuffs, as heroine Mei skips across enemy shields, defies gravity in the bamboo trees and dodges a rain of whistling bamboo spears.
11.15pm Ashes Of Time
Slow-mo fight scenes, artfully choreographed slice and dice - Ashes Of Time is a film that will cast a spell over Wong Kar-Wai fans and newcomers alike. A mesmerising piece of cinema from a great director, this is at times flawed, but always ambitious stuff. A dreamlike experience.
