Iron Man 2

What is it?
The sequel to the 2008 hit featuring Robert Downey Jr as playboy and arms industrialist turned superhero. Although Marvel Comics has other projects in the works, including Thor (with Kenneth Branagh directing), Captain America and The Avengers, Iron Man's the one we're really waiting for. The film picks up six months after the first left off, with Stark having revealed his secret identity and now dealing with the pressure. His response? Reaching for the bottle. He also has to contend with new villain, Whiplash, a tattooed Russian with a self-explanatory weapon of choice.

Who's involved?
As well as Downey Jr, still on board are director Jon Favreau and Gwyneth Paltrow as Stark's PA Pepper Potts. The screenwriter is Justin Theroux (Tropic Thunder). New cast blood comes in the form of Mickey Rourke as Whiplash; Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard as Colonel James Rhodes; Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow; and Sam Rockwell as a rival industrialist.

Where's it at?
Shooting wrapped on 20 July 2009. Expect in 2010.
