Animal Farm

2-D good! Adapted from Orwell's classic satire, this is notable for being the first British animated feature to receive a general release; for Maurice Denham's vocal talents (a symphony of bleats, grunts and neighs); and also, it seems, for being secretly funded by the C.I.A. - hence the tacked-on counter-revolutionary climax, a radical departure from the source text that would have had Eric Blair spinning like a gyroscope. Big Brother certainly knows the propaganda value of a cartoon.
