To mark the release of the long-awaited FilmFour production The King, we're thrilled to bring you a short season dedicated to the crown prince of Mexican movies, Gael García Bernal.

Although he's only been in the industry a little over a decade, the young guy from Guadalajara already boasts an impressive body of work. In his breakthrough picture, Amores Perros, he's captivating as the young Octavio - a boy who's so determined to runaway with his sister-in-law that he turns to dog-fighting as a means of raising money. Described by critics as the Mexican equivalent of Pulp Fiction, Amores Perros (aka Love's A Bitch) remains one of the greatest films to come out of the country since the days of Luis Buñuel and Emilio Fernandez.

Y Tu Mamá También (aka And You're Mother Too) is another challenging Mexican movie. Bernal co-stars with Diego Luna (Open Range, Criminal) as two horny Latinos who hit the road with an older woman (Ana López Mercardo) and embark on a cross-country journey that will see them grow up with each passing mile and learn all manner of life lessons.

Another actor enjoying a FilmFour mini-season is Johnny Depp. Arguably the finest performer of his generation, Depp's hidden depths have allowed him to play everything from transvestite filmmaker Edward D Wood Jnr to creepy confectioner Willy Wonka. In our Depp-fest, you'll be able to enjoy his turn in the sci-fi thriller The Astronaut's Wife and his barnstorming performance as drug-addled author Hunter S Thompson in Terry Gilliam's adaptation of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas.
