King Kong
While Weta's still reeling from the fall-out from Lord Of The Rings (the workshop is littered with bits of discarded cave troll and oliphaunt), it's clear that moving from one massive project to another hasn't posed too many problems for an FX team whose last three projects yielded six Oscars. So, as Taylor stands before a miniature of Skull Island's fortifications, one question remains, a question that bothers all students of Kong lore since it's the only aspect of the story that doesn't make any sense: why, if the natives are so keen to keep Kong and the other residents of Skull Island out, did they build a massive wall with a door large enough to accommodate one of colossal critters?

"That's a good question," sighs Taylor, who's clearly gone over this ground before, "and you can believe me that we've discussed that matter at great length. And in the end, we concluded that the gates and the wall relate less to the animals of Skull Island than to the culture of the native people, and therefore, they were built for reasons of ceremony rather than defence."

Yes, it's clear Weta's FX warriors have thought of everything. No wonder they're so keen to keep the world at arm's length for the time being.
