Win RESfest premiere tickets

Win RESfest premiere tickets

We're giving you the chance to win tickets to RESfest premieres of some of this winter's coolest films, including Art School Confidential and Special (pictured).

We are giving away one pair of tickets to each of the following screenings, all at The National Film Theatre on London's South Bank.

Art School Confidential – LONDON PREMIERE
Dir.: Terry Zwigoff | US | 102 min
Nov 15, 8.45pm NFT1
Director Terry Zwigoff returns to a favourite theme: the isolation of sensitive people whose interests and work are under-appreciated in a vacuous, contemporary world. Max Minghella stars in this destined-for-cult-classic, biting film, alongside John Malkovich, Jim Broadbent and Angelica Houston. It's Zwigoff's second adaptation of a comic story by Daniel Clowes, after Ghost World, for which they shared an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay in 2002.

Special – LONDON PREMIERE
USA 2006 │ Directors: Hal Haberman and Jeremy Passmore │ 83 Min
Nov 16, 8.30pm NFT3
Les Franken (Michael Rapaport), a lonely parking enforcement officer who enjoys reading comic books, decides to take part in a clinical trial for a new and exciting antidepressant called ‘Special’. An unexpected side effect of the drug renders him with superpowers – or so he thinks.

Rock The Bells – LONDON PREMIERE
Directors: Casey Suchan, Denis Henry Hennelly | USA | 2006 | 113 min
Nov 17, 8.44pm NFT1

For his 'Rock the Bells' music festival, Chang Weisberg wants to reunite the Wu-Tang Clan - the Staten Island hip-hop mavericks whose 36 Chambers album redefined the genre. It's not an impossible dream but it's by no means simple, either. For one thing, there's so damn many of them; for another, he's running out of time. And finally, there's the issue of Ol' Dirty Bastard, the group's (damaged) heart and soul, who's in no fit state to perform (he died just four months later). Detailing the preparation for the performance, this rapid-fire, multi-strand documentary delivers all the chaos, insanity and excitement of the gig: busted equipment, overwhelmed security, an overcrowded venue, a crowd about to riot. With performances by Redman, Dilated Peoples and, of course, finally, unforgettably, the Wu themselves, it's a trip.

Unsung Heroes: Gems from the Archive.
Nov 18, 2pm NFT2
Music video making is always integral to RESFEST programming and this is why we’ve decided to bring some audience favourites back. Alongside H5’s amazing Remind Me for Royksopp, Ruben Fleischer’s We Know Something You Don’t Know for DJ Format always gets the grins splitting, as does Alex Budovsky’s catchy as hell Bathtime in Clerkenwell from (The Real) Tuesday Weld. British video heroes Hammer & Tongs bring it home with their classic clip for Bentley Rhythm Ace’s Theme from Gutbuster’. The list goes on…

A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash –LONDON PREMIERE
Dirs.: Basil Gelpke and Ray McCormack | Switzerland 2006 | 83 minutes
Nov 19, 4.15pm, NFT1

This compelling, intelligent and highly entertaining documentary looks at what will happen to the world when the oil supplies run out.
